Hallo! This is some information about me.
I have been interested in freeing the voice and finding ways of doing that as an adult, until I started allowing my voice to express anger, grief and longing. After an excruciatingly difficult long-term relationship breakup, I went to train in Theatre-making and Performance at Dartington College of Arts in Devon. There I discovered the joy of performing, researching and making performance.
I am based in South Devon, UK and teach voice and communication skills to actors, professional voice users and people who want to improve their vocal ability. I have an MA Voice Studies from Royal Central School of Speech and Drama and an MEd in TESOL (Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages). After Dartington College of Arts I trained in Physical Theatre, Improvisation and Acting at the Lecoq-based London International School of Performing Arts (LISPA).
I gained experience of working with people from a whole range of ethnic and linguistic backgrounds through teaching English as a Foreign Language to adults in the UK, France, Finland and Poland. This has enabled me to specifically assist non-native speakers of English. I successfully taught Presentation Skills to International students at UK and Middle Eastern universities and since then have become increasingly aware of how many people need help with using their voice to speak out in public.
When working with groups, I encourage a supportive and co-operative environment. Individuals learn by noticing what works well and use that to improve their own performance. I aim to develop the ability to explore and integrate the learning that occurs.
